Framingham Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2012

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Sep-2013
All indigenous yeast fermented, 60% in seasoned oak and 40% in stainless barrels to 14.0% alc. and approx. 11 g/L RS. Bright, full, straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. This has a soft, voluminous nose with good depth of ripe yellow stonefruit and tropical fruit aromas revealing layers of yellow florals, apricots, ginger and musk. Off-dry to taste, soft, mellow and mouthfilling flavours of ripe. savoury yellow stonefruits meld with exotic florals, nuts, musk and ginger. The mouthfeel is smooth and oily, with lush honey, creaming soda and caramel nuances adding to the richness. The palate has breadth and weight, with alcohol drive, the low acidity enhancing the roundness and mellow textures. Smooth flowing and seamless, the flavours lead to a full, unctuous finish of caramel and musk. This is a softly rich and unctuous, off-dry Gewurztraminer with mouthfilling burnished flavours in the modern Alsace style. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 4-5 years. 18.0/20 Sep 2013 RRP $30.00
