Framingham Marlborough ‘Classic’ Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Jan-2015
Brilliant, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is soft and voluminous with a refined array of beautifully and harmoniously interwoven aromas of lime fruit with yellow florals and honey, along with some toasty secondary complexities. Medium in sweetness, the palate is gently rich and luscious with flavours of ripe citrus fruits and exotic florals, along with honey and toast that build in decadence and palate weight. The fruit extract forms a deep core which flows with good drive and underlying acid energy. The palate has a fine, dry phenolic thread that balances the sweetness, leading to a long, harmoniously poised, sustained finish. This is a delicately rich and lush medium-sweet Riesling with some secondary toasty complexity. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spiced Asian cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. A wine in the Spatlese Halbtrocken style, the fruit late picked without botrytis influence, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 17 g/L RS, TA 7.5 g/L and pH 2.95. 18.5+/20 Jan 2015 RRP $25.00
