Framingham ‘F-Series’ ‘Old Vine’ Marlborough Riesling 2017

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Jun-2018
Bright, pale golden, straw-yellow colour, a little lighter edged. The nose is elegantly presented with fine concentration and subtle penetrating aromas of lime fruit entwined with honeysuckle, yellow florals, some muskiness indicative of botrytis, unfolding soft herb and mineral nuances. This has a deep, aromatic core. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a rich hearty with well-packed flavours of lime fruit melded with honeysuckle, exotic florals and notes of musky botrytis, unfolding some refreshing herb and mineral nuances. The flavours are exotic and are enlivened by soft, lacy acidity, and the wine flows easily along a very fine, near seamless palate line, leading to a long finish of lime, honeysuckle and musk. This is an exotic, well-balanced off-dry Riesling with lime fruit, honey, exotic and musky florals and a concentrated heart. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. Estate fruit from vines planted 1981, all indigenous yeast fermented, 80% in stainless-steel barrels and 20% in seasoned wood to 13.0% alc. and 7 g/L RS, TA 6.5 g/L and pH 3.2, the wine spending 9 months on full lees. 3,999 bottles made. 19.0-/20 Jun 2018 RRP $45.00
