Framingham ‘F-Series’ ‘Old Vine’ Marlborough Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Jun-2015
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, paler on edge. The nose is very fresh, tightly bound and intensely penetrating with beautifully pure aromas of white florals, lime and lemon fruit, and steely, thirst-quenching mineral and flinty notes. The florals prevail and the nose reveals honeysuckle nuances with aeration. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the clarity, purity and focus of the floral, lime, lemon and honeysuckle nuanced flavours is the feature. The fruit is rich and balanced by crisp, racy and steely acidity, enabling delicate flint and mineral elements to emerge. The palate follows a very fine line with phenolic detail carrying the wine to a lively, mouth-wateringly dry, steely finish with mineral and honeysuckle nuances. This is a crisp, steely dry Riesling with beautiful clarity of floral, citrus and minerally flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit from the front old vines given long hang time, with no botrytis, 25% destemmed and given 6 hours skin contact and indigenous yeast fermented in stainless-steel barrels with 20% in seasoned wood to 12.2% alc. and 8.5 g/L RS, TA 7 g/L and pH 3.07, the wine aged 10 months on lees. 2,533 bottles made. 18.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $40.00
