Framingham ‘F-Series’ ‘Old Vine’ Marlborough Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Jan-2012
The oldest estate Riesling vines given extra hang-time, indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc. and 8.5 g/L rs, aged on lees 11 months. Fullish straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim, the nose is firm and intense with densely packed aromas of yellow stonefruits with complex earth, funky smoke and reductive elements. Dry to taste, the palate shows fruit weight, body and power, the flavours unfolding layers of savoury stonefruits and nuances of earth and minerals. Good acid tension underlines the fruit and provides a mouthwatering crispness. The finish is concentrated with apple and flinty flavours. A complex and funky flavoured Riesling in the Alsace style that will match Mediterranean seafood and poultry dishes over the next 4-6 years. It may polarise people! 18.0-/20 Jan 2012 RRP $39.95
