Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 2013

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Nov-2013
Brilliant light golden-yellow colour, full and with depth. This has a rich, opulent and decadent bouquet of wild honey, musk and marmalade aromas that are lifted by floral and citrus notes. The nose exudes masses of pristine noble botrytis infection, and the harmony and finesse of the integration with the fruit is startling. Very, very sweet, the palate combines great richness and concentration with a refined and elegant expression of hedonism and decadence. Beautifully pure layers of botrytis and fruit form a seamless, unctuous core, showing honey, citrus and apricotty fruit, exotic florals, talc and musk flavours. There is restraint and style, with a very fine, lacy acid line that provides tension and freshness, and the necessary cut and balance. The palate flows to a very long and sustained, unctuous and refined finish. This is a sensational, seamless and refined Trockenbeerenauslese dessert wine with amazing integration of fruit and botrytis. Serve on special occasions and as a wine to ponder the beauty of the world with, over the next 10-12+ years. Hand-picked fruit from front and back block old vines, 100% botrytis affected bunches, fermented in stainless steel barrels and 50 L kegs to 6.5% alc. and 320 g/L RS. (375 ml) 20.0/20 Nov 2013 RRP $70.00
