Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Riesling Spatlese 2014

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Feb-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh with tightly bound and intensely steely and refreshing aromas of pure, mouthwatering lime fruit and wet-stones, the aromatics blossoming in breadth, to reveal nuances of minerals, and smoke. Medium-sweet and light-bodied, soft and gently luscious flavours of limes, green apples, white florals and honeysuckle are detailed by mineral and smoky nuances. The mouthfeel combines succulence with acid tension, and the palate is vibrant, flowing with energy and drive, following a very delicate textural line. The flavours carry to a very long finish with lime and floral elements. This is a beautifully poised, gently succulent medium-sweet Riesling with purity and vitality and the most subtle textures. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit at 21.9° Brix, with no botrytis, selected by appearance, for rich, bronze-gold. 75% from back old vines fermented warm on full solids, 25% the old front vines indigenous yeast fermented in old oak, to 8.4% alc. and 63 g/L RS. 507 bottles made. 19.0+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $35.00
