Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer Vendange Tardive 2014

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Feb-2015
Full golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is fulsome and powerful, with packed aromas of opulent and exotic tropical fruits entwined with honey, caramel and root ginger, along with layers of musk and marmalade, revealing a little nutty detail. Very sweet and medium-bodied, the palate is densely pcked with concentrated flavours of ripe oranges, tropical fruits, root ginger and musky florals. This has real depth and density, with fruit extract, presence and weight, the textures carried by good alcohol power and drive. The acidity is mellow, enhancing the roundness and unctuousness. Musk, raisin spices and nutty elements unfold, lending complex layers of detail and carry through to a strong, rich, solidly concentrated luscious finish. This is a bold, densely packed, unctuous vendange tardive styled dessert Gewurztraminer with very ripe, burnished and exotic fruit expression and layers of opulence. Serve with paté, steamed puddings and blue cheeses over the next 7-9+ years. Hand-picked fruit at 39.5° Brix, mostly clean, dehydrated fruit with 25-30% botrytis influence, fermented in oak barrel to 11.0% alc. and 215 g/L RS. (375 ml) 602 bottles made. 19.5-/20 Feb 2015 RRP $40.00
