Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer Vendange Tardive 2013

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Nov-2013
Hand-picked dehydrated Gewurztraminer fruit with 15-20% botrytis influence, fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts in oak barrels to 9.5% alc. and 165 g/L RS. Brilliant, soft, golden-yellow colour with good depth, paler on edge. The nose is full, solid and densely concentrated with aromas of opulently ripe tropical fruits, musk and ginger, with a complex layering of apricots, savoury florals, Turkish Delight and raisins, clearly exhibiting Gewurztraminer character. Very sweet to taste, the flavours of ripe tropical fruits, ginger, honey and musk are harmoniously melded together, but slightly shy in expression. The flavours flow across a smooth and seamless palate, growing in weight, depth and mouthfeel presence. The complex interaction of varietal fruit, dessication and botrytis releases waves of complex, savoury stonefruit and wild honey nuances, which are carried with vitality by excellent acidity. The finish is very long and sustained with a full melange of decadent nuances. This is a harmonious and seamless flowing, decadent Gewurztraminer dessert wine with great weight. Serve with pate and rich, baked desserts over the next 8-10 years. (375 ml) 18.5+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $40.00
