Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2015

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Jan-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter on the rim. This has a softly full and concentrated nose of ripe tropical fruits entwined with rose-petal florals, root ginger honeysuckle and savoury musk notes. Complexing nutty, smoke and mineral nuances emerge, the aromatics unfolding in layers of interest. Medium-dry in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the palate is softly concentrated and mouthfilling with flavours of rose-petal florals, honey, musk and creaming soda, along with savoury nutty and yellow stonefruit elements. This has an unctuous mouthfeel, enlivened and balanced by refreshing, lacy acidity. The wine flows with good energy along a very fine-textured line, leading to a long, lively and rich finish of savoury honey and musk. This is a softly full and concentrated medium Gewurztraminer with rich, exotic and savoury flavours, an unctuous texture and fresh, underlying acidity. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 4+ years. Estate fruit from vines approx. 20 y.o. with around a 12% botrytised late harvest component, indigenous yeast fermented with 80% in barrel to 14.5% alc. and 18 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees with some solids. 133 dozen made. 19.0-/20 Jan 2016 RRP $35.00
