Framingham ‘F-Series’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Aug-2013
The last of the virused Mendoza Chardonnay, 18 y.o., now replaced by Montepulciano. Hand-picked, 50% indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned oak and 50% in stainless barrel to 14.0% alc. The barrel portion in oak 4 months and the blended wine aged on lees with some MLF and batonnage. Bright straw-gold colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is full and deep with an amalgam of MLF butterscotch, white stonefruits, nuts and minerals well interwoven and concentrated in expression. Medium-full bodied, a rounded core of flavours of citrus fruits, stonefruits, nuts and butterscotch is the feature. The palate is dry and structured with a fine textural line and restrained acidity. The flavours are underlined by some alcoholic power that are driven to a tightly bound, crisp finish with stonefruit and nutty nuances. This is a concentrated, dry Chardonnay with a prominent butter and nutty amalgam of flavours. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. 24 dozen made. 17.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $35.00
