Foxes Island ‘ Belsham Estate Vineyards’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Mar-2011
Fruit from the ‘Belsham Awatere' vineyard fully destemmed and cold macerated, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine then aged 10 months in French oak barriques. Ruby-red in colour with pale garnet hues on edge, this has a full, fragrant, near-ethereal bouquet of ripe strawberries, raspberries and cherry liqueur, the aromatics showing elegance and delicacy. Refined, fine-grained and delicate in extraction and textures, the red floral flavours are allied to darker berry fruit notes, complexed with savoury dried herb and oak notes. The fruit dances across the palate with precision and is kept in excellent tension by the acidity. Bright, lifted fruit are sustained on the long finish. Reminiscent of Chambolle-Musigny red burgundy, this will match mild Asian cuisine and roast duck over the next 5-6+ years. 18.5/20 Mar 2011 RRP $44.00
