Four Hawk Day Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Oct-2014
Full and even, bright straw-yellow colour with light green hues. This has a light and tight nose with an amalgam of white and yellow stonefruit aromas, along with nuances of honeysuckle and flinty minerals, lifted with delicate fermentation esters. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, soft, light and uncomplicated flavours of stonefruits flow on a slippery, smooth palate. The mouthfeel has a delicate unctuousness with soft acidity enhancing the fruit sweetness, and the palate has good vinous presence. The wine leads to a light, dry finish with stonefruit nuances. This is a soft-textured, mellow and dry Pinot Gris with good vinosity. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the neighbouring ‘Pear Tree’ vineyard, cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 5.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 16.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $23.00
