Forrest ‘The Valleys’ Wairau Marlborough Dry Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Feb-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, light on edge. The nose is very elegant and refined with tightly bound aromas of lime and lemon fruit showing lovely purity. A suggestion of secondary toast and mineral development is just beginning to appear providing delicate detail. Dry to taste, delicate flavours of limes and lemon are poised with mineral, toast and a little honey. The fruit flows along a very fine phenolic line, revealing some fruit sweetness and succulence. Fine, lacy acidity and tension adds to the fruit purity and the flavours carry through to a dry, softly mouthwatering finish. This is an elegant and delicate, pure Riesling with hints of toast and a refined phenolic line. Serve as an aperitif and with delicate seafood dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Fruit from vines north of Renwick on sand, gravel and stony soils, hand-picked and cool-fermented to 11.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS, TA 6.9 g/L and pH 3.13, the wine on lees. 18.0-/20 Feb 2014 RRP $22.00 Not yet released
