Forrest ‘The Doctors’ Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2012

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Sep-2013
Third crop fruit from the ‘Conders Bend’ vineyard, tank-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 5.2 g/L RS. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green-gold hues, pale on rim. The nose is softly concentrated with a firm core of subtle herb, white stonefruit and white pepper aromas interwoven with flinty notes. Dry to taste, well concentrated and weighted flavours of herbs and white stonefruits show with positive depth and body. The fruit extract provides a fine phenolic, textural backbone, and a rounded, filling mouthfeel. Soft, underlying acidity adds to the fruit richness building the palate with a degree of lusciousness. This has good linearity, and the wine carries through to a long, lingering, textured finish with stonefruit, mineral and flinty elements. This is a concentrated, finely textured Gruner Veltliner with a soft lusciousness. Match with white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. 18.0-/20 Sep 2013 RRP $22.00
