Forrest ‘The Doctors’ Marlborough Arneis 2010

Arneis from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Mar-2011
This north-west Italian white varietal is the perfect foil for the Barbaresco and Barolo wines of Piedmont, and as such has benefitted from the cult interest in the reds. The variety has a toe-hold in New Zealand and the wines have received a mixed, but not hot reception. This wine, from fruit grown in the Gibson's Creek vineyard in the Wairau will help the cause for Arneis. Pale straw coloured, this has a tight, intense bouquet of white stonefruits, citrus fruits and herbs. On palate, it is not an exuberant wine, but has substance and warmth from the 13.4% alc. Dry with only 4.2 g/L rs, the stonefruit, herb and mineral flavours sit on a soft, well-textured palate. A pleasing wine to match poultry and seafood over the next 2 years. 17.0+/20 Oct 2010 RRP $25.00
