Forrest Marlborough Semillon 2010

Semillon from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 29-Mar-2011
Brilliant straw-yellow in colour, this has a firm and concentrated bouquet of pure, grassy varietal fruit, classical cool-climate Semillon, showing richness of aromatic character, complexed with notes of nutty, spicy oak and lees flintiness. Dry to taste, this is a full, rounded mouthful of grassy, herbal flavours lifted with oak spice elements, combined with oily, smooth textures. The acidity is crisp and racy, and contributes to the drive, line and length. Semillon can be ‘more Sauvignon than Sauvignon' with its extroverted herbaceous flavours and needs ripeness and texture to work well; this is a well balanced one. Drink with salads, vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3+ years. The first Semillon from Forrest for 12 years, fully barrel-fermented in new and seasoned barriques to 13.6% alc. and 6 g/L rs, matured in oak 3 months. 17.5-/20 Mar 2011 RRP $25.00
