Forrest Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Aug-2016
Pale straw colour, youthful appearance. This has a soft and rich-fruited, deep nose with aromas of gooseberries and subtle passionfruit notes, along with spice and herbs. Just a hint of secondary development adding slight bean nuances to the fruitiness. Still tightly held, but with richness balanced by crisp acidity and a touch of phenolics. 13.0% alc. and 2.04 g/L RS. 18.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $22.00 Brilliant, very pale straw colour with green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is firmly fresh and upfront with aromas of gooseberry fruit entwined with green stonefruits, capsicums and limes, unfolding passionfruit notes and fresh herbal elements. The aromatics are crisp, clear and cutting and build in depth in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features tightly bound gooseberry, herb and passionfruit flavours expressed with freshness, clarity and precision. This mouthfeel is crisp and racy with a steely core and linearity driven by the brisk acidity. The wine carries to a mouthwatering, dry, lingering finish with gooseberry and minerally notes. This is a tight, crisp and refreshingly steely Sauvignon Blanc with clear gooseberry, herb and passionfruit flavours. Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean inspired cuisine over the next 2 years. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.04 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.0-/20 Oct 2015 RRP $22.00
