Forrest Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Jan-2014
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with the faintest suggestion of blush, lighter on edge. The nose is softly full with lifted esters and concentrated aromatic pear fruit, along with exotic floral and honeysuckle elements, unfolding Gewurztraminer-like spicy nuances in the glass. Medium-dryish to taste, sweetly ripe pear and stonefruit flavours show with exotic floral notes. The fruit is up-front with a luscious richness and a honeyed-floral amalgam at the heart, following a very fine-textured line. Soft, but bright acidity provides balance, freshness and energy that carries the flavours to a sustained and lingering finish with floral interest. This is a beautiful, medium-dry Pinot Gris with gently luscious, exotic floral fruit flavours and a fine-textured palate. Match with fine Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from two Wairau River Valley sites, one from Northbank, hand-picked, WBP and cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 8.5 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Jan 2014 RRP $22.00
