Forrest Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Jan-2014
Fruit from the company’s ‘Brancott’ vineyard, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 9 g/L RS. Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The bouquet is fine and restrained, with delicately piquant and lifted rose-petal florals, building in intensity. Nuances of exotic fruits and perfumes become revealed in the glass. Medium-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, deep and aromatic fruit flavours of florals, honey and sweet tropical fruits are carried by some alcoholic power and drive. This is softly mouth-coating, with bright and lively acidity underlining the palate, adding to the succulence and freshness. Fine phenolic textures carry the flavours to a dry, musky, moderately sustained finish. This is a medium-dry, fresh and bright, aromatic-fruited Gewurztraminer with good power. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 4+ years. 250 cases made. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $22.00
