Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-yellow hues, lighter on rim. This has an elegant and freshly aromatic nose of citrus and white stonefruits, along with nutty sulphide detail, flinty elements and toasty complexities that unfold in the glass. Medium-bodied, tightly constrained flavours of citrus and stonefruits form a fruit-focussed core. Oaking is very subtle and sensitive, allowing the fruit clarity to feature. The palate balances creamy barrel-ferment textures and richness with fine acid cut and phenolics, and leads to an elegant, lacy finish with lingering citrus and toasty notes. This is an elegant, fine-featured Chardonnay with fruit clarity and subtle richness. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 4-5 years. Clones 1, 15, 95 and Mendoza, 50% barrel-fermented in new and seasoned oak on high solids, the wine aged 10 months on lees and undergoing MLF. The other 50% cool-fermented in tank and aged with batonnage. The wine is 13.0% alc. and has 5 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $25.00
