Fontanafredda ‘Serralunga d’Alba’ Barolo DOCG 2007

Nebbiolo from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 30-Jun-2012
Dark, deep ruby-red with some youthful hues to the colour. The nose is full and robustly presented with ripe dark fruits and a little tarriness, very much up-front, showing some primary, jammy confectionary notes. Sweetly fruited with ripe red berry, plum and earthy flavours, this is straight forward in expression, with modest nuance. However there is drive and density, the flavours very easy and accessible. The tannins build, becoming firmer, providing a long, drying finish. This is a modern, fruit-focussed, approachable style to drink over the next 6-8 years. Fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French barriques and 24 months in 20 hl French casks. 17.5-/20 Jun 2012 RRP $89.90
