Fontanafredda Barolo DOCG 2007

Nebbiolo from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 31-May-2012
Nebbiolo fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged at least 2 years in large oak casks. Full, dark, deep ruby-garnet red colour, youthful in appearance. This has a powerful, rich nose of ripe, dark berry fruits with an amalgam of violet florals, earth and mint and hints of savoury undergrowth and game. Fullish bodied, bold and sweet dark red berry fruits show with complex dark herb and earth notes. The fruit is enlivened by fresh acidity and framed in a robust framework with considerable tannin extraction. The tannins are supple, but the wine remains a sturdy example in the modern-traditional style. Age 10-15 years.  18.5/20  May 2012
