Folium Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Marlborough

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Dec-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow with a green sheen, youthful, even colour throughout. The nose is voluminous, filled the glass with gunflint, smoke, toast and brown butter, entwined with an amalgam of spice, underlying tropical fruit and nettle. Medium-full bodied, complex aromas have integrated, a bright pineapple core melded with mango, dried apple, along with spice, unfolding gunflint, brown butter, toast and a hint of cashew, linger with smoke to a very long, flavoursome finish. The palate is mouth-filling and complex with an unctuous mouthfeel, supported by integrated acidity. The spice development added positive interest and lifted the palate, unveiling ginger, cumin spice, very intriguing. This complex, developed, and harmonious Sauvignon Blanc shows lots of youth, with strength, power, and grace. Match with roasted guinea fowl and hazelnut crusted halibut over the next 5-8 years. 13.7% alc. 19.5-/20 pts (97 pts) Dec 2021 RRP $34
