Folium Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Sep-2014
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on rim. This has a fresh, elegant nose with soft gooseberry fruit aromas interwoven with sweet capsicum and cooler grassy notes along with minerally hints, showing good presence, but stylishly restrained in expression. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours are a little shy, with ethereal and aromatic gooseberry fruit, herbs and cut grass. This has good weight and mouthfeel, the wine enlivened by mouthwatering acidity. The wine follows a fine-textured phenolic line with some bite, leading to a long, lingering finish with subtle herb and white stonefruit nuances. This is a soft-textured, restrained, ethereally flavoured Sauvignon Blanc with good mouthfeel and presence. Match with seafood, salads and vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. Hand-picked fruit, from vines planted in 2003, on stony riverbed soil, WBP and fermented at up to 20°C to 13.5% alc., the wine aged up to 8 months on lees. 18.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $27.00
