Folding Hill ‘Orchard Block’ Bendigo Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 02-Aug-2016
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with purple hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is full and broad with well-concentrated and densely packed aromas of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits with black plums and harmoniously entwined black earth, liquorice layers and thyme herb elements. The aromatics are full, near robust and rounded in expression. Full-bodied, the palate features broad, rich and plush, but well-concentrated flavours of ripe black berries and cherries with plum notes, unfolding harmoniously melded flavours of thyme herbs and liquorice, The fruit richness fills the palate and is supported by fine, supple tannin extraction with integrated, softly balanced acidity. The fulsome and sweetly rich flavours carry with fine linearity to a long and sustained finish of ripe dark-red fruits, plums, thyme herbs and floral elements. This is a fulsome rich and sweet, black-fruited Pinot Noir with a harmonious, structured palate. Match with lamb, beef and game meat dishes and semi-hard cheeses over the next 6-8 years. One tonne of clone 5 fruit from the ‘Orchard Block’, fully destemmed but not crushed, given a 12 day cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.2% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 33% new French oak casks. 82 cases made. 18.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $55.00
