Flying Sheep Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Aug-2013
Cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 15% barrel-fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.4% alc. and < 1 g/L RS. Fullish straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is full, open and broad with deeply packed aromas of yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and soft, savoury herbs that reveal some secondary development. Dry to taste and medium-fill bodied, restrained, ripe yellow stonefruits intermingle with herbs and tropical fruits. The mouthfeel is rounded in texture, with good weight and presence. Sweet apricotty fruit and savoury, secondary elements unfold, but are carried by good underlying acidity and some alcoholic power to a fulsome finish. This is a soft, mellow, but weighty Sauvignon Blanc which has developed savoury bottle age notes. Match with poultry and white meat dishes over the next 18 months – 2 years. 16.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $20.00
