Flying Sheep Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 09-Jun-2014
Dark, deep, black-red hearted ruby colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is elegantly full and deep with aromas of black berry and black cherry fruit entwined with layers of earth and oak spices with some resinous elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft and plush with juicy fruit flavours of dark red berry fruits, spicy plums, liquorice and earthy minerals. This has good density, depth and weight, with a firm core and line, and balanced background acidity. The flavours flow with drive, the tannins guiding the fruit to a moderately sustained finish with a combination of spices and plum nuances. This is a juicy, plummy, spicy and earthy flavoured Pinot Noir with a firm underlying line. Match with coq au vin and casseroles over the next 3-4+ years. 100% Pinot Noir fully destemmed, given a cold soak, and fermented with a high portion of whole berries, partially by indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in seasoned French oak barrels. 17.0+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $35.00
