Flying Sheep Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2012

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Jun-2014
100% Gewurztraminer given 6 hours skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 14.3% alc. and 1 g/L RS. Brilliant, light golden-straw colour, lighter on rim. This has an intense and well-concentrated nose of rose-petal florals entwined with spices and ginger, along with complexing nuances of flinty lees elements and hints of secondary hair-oil elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, deep and concentrated flavours of root-ginger, rose-petals and spices form a firm palate line. The mouthfeel is rounded with some oily unctuousness and soft acidity, and driven by alcoholic power. The wine leads to a densely packed and long lingering finish with varietal bitter ginger notes. This is a well-concentrated and moderately powerful dry Gewurztraminer with some secondary oily development. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3 years. 17.5-/20 Jun 2014 RRP $28.00
