Floating Mountain Waipara Pinot Noir 2008

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-May-2012
A barrel selection. Fruit from the ‘Blacks Avenue' vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 15 months in 30% new French oak. Light garnet-red colour, pale on edge. The nose is softly full and elegant with strawberry and cherry aromas in the cooler spectrum, showing red florals and dried herbs and some spicy oak. Medium-bodied, light, pretty strawberry and cherry flavours along with herb elements are spiced with some cedary oak nuances. The palate is beginning to integrate, the textures supple and mouthfeel rounding with smoothness. There is still good freshness from underlying acidity which leads to a dry, textured finish of cherries herbs and spice. This is a lighter, spice and herb flavoured Pinot Noir beginning to integrate and show some harmony. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern poultry dishes over the next 3-4 years. 16.5-/20 May 2012 RRP $28.50
