Fiddler’s Green Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 20-Jul-2016
Light golden-yellow colour with some depth, paler edged. This has a fresh, full, moderately deep nose with aromas of yellow stonefruits with lifted florals and suggestions of honeysuckle, fresh herbs and nuts. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate shows an amalgam of ripe yellow stonefruits entwined with florals, honeysuckle and nutty elements. A little alcohol drive is noticeable, providing good presence. The mouthfeel is soft in texture with integrated acidity, and the flavours are carried by the fine grip to a dry, elegantly concentrated finish with good length. This is a dryish Pinot Gris with an amalgam of stonefruit, floral, honeysuckle and nutty flavours with some power and drive. Match with most white meat courses over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Pilgrim’ vineyard, fermented with high solids and stems, and partially in barrel and with indigenous yeasts to 12.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Jul 2016 RRP $19.99
