Ferraton ‘Samorens’ Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2009

Blended White from France - Rhone
Review Date : 09-May-2011
60% Grenache Blanc and 40% Clairette fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine not undergoing MLF to preserve acidity. Bright straw-yellow colour with hues of gold, and a pale edge. This has a bouquet of white florals and minerals, a little shy, but clean and fresh in expression. Dryish to taste, this is tight and elegantly constructed, showing pure stonefruit and floral characters, fresh on palate with sufficient acidity for good liveliness. The wine is softly textured, with some richness and weight, and has none of the broadness and heat that can mar many whites from the southern Rhone. Well-made in a modern style. Serve with antipasto, seafood and poultry over the next 2-3+ years. 16.0+/20 May 2011 RRP $25.75
