Fern Ridge Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Feb-2018
Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on the rim. The nose is gently fresh with light fruit aromas of gooseberries, nuances of tropical fruits, fresh herbs and cooler-spectrum nettle notes, unfolding white floral elements. The aromatics show moderate depth and intensity. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate has elegant and restrained, gently sweet flavours of gooseberries and fresh herbs with nuances of snow peas and nettles, along with lifted florals. The fruit is fresh and vibrant, and is enlivened by fresh acidity, and underlined by light, dry-textured phenolics. The wine carries to a light, juicy-fruited finish with a little grip. This is a light, gently sweet and lively Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, herb and nettle flavours on a mouthwatering, dry-textured palate. Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit cool-fermented to 11.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 16.0+/20 Feb 2018 RRP $17.99
