Chardonnay from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 17-Sep-2012
A variety of clones, 60% from ‘The Elms', 30% ‘Calvert' and 10% ‘Cornish Point', WBP and fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months with batonnage and full MLF in 15% new French oak. Fullish light straw-yellow colour, this is rich, dense and concentrated with complex minerally stonefruit flavours and plenty of reductive elements that unfold in layers. A little oak spice and shows. A wine with excellent richness and depth of stonefruit, citrus, floral and flinty flavours, forming a palate with plenty of core, great drive and a very long, lingering finish. Very fine, tight and with poise from soft, lacy acidity to balance the concentration. A Puligny-Montrachet style to develop over the next 4-6+ years. 19.0+/20 Sep 2012 RRP $37.00
