Farmers Market Gisborne Merlot/Malbec 2013

Blended Red from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 14-Sep-2016
Moderately dark ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim. This has a fresh, elegantly pack nose of black berried fruits in a harmonious amalgam of spices, piquant mint herbs and suggestions of eucalypt. Medium-full bodied, the palate is well-proportioned and concentrated with a deep core of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum fruit interwoven with spice notes and a layering of mint, herbs and eucalypt. The mouthfeel has dry, grainy tannins providing grip, structure and a firm line, and the acidity is ripe and integrated. The wine carries to a tight, spicy finish of black fruits and mint. This is a firm, grainy Merlot/Malbec blend with black berried and herb flavours. Serve with grilled and barbecued red meat dishes over the next 4 years. A blend of 60% Patutahi Merlot and 40% Ormond Malbec fermented to 13.3% alc. 16.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $15.99
