Falua ‘Reserva’ Tejo Alicante Bouschet 2011

Other Red from Portugal
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Alicante Bouschet fruit from Tejo, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 300 L French oak barrels. Saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The bouquet is elegantly concentrated with ripe black berry and plum fruit aromas in a jammy, floral-lifted amalgam. Layers of earth and game-like detail emerge with aeration, and the density of the nose grows. Medium-bodied, tightly concentrated and elegantly presented flavours of ripe dark-red and black berry fruits are entwined with black plums, nuances of jam and a little whole berry fermentation floral and confectionary elements. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, powdery tannins, and discreet acidity, carrying the wine to an elegant, taut and grainy-textured finish. This is a very fine-grained, tightly bound Alicante Bouschet with ripe, lifted fruit and firm extraction. Match with roasted beef and lamb or serve with hard cheeses over the next 6+ years. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $34.99
