Falua ‘Reserva’ Bucelas Arinto 2012

Other White from Portugal
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter on rim. The nose is full, soft and rich with complex aromas of ripe citrus and exotic fruits melded with nutty and creamy barrel-ferment, and hints of oak toast with flinty minerals. The nose possesses an underlying steeliness and freshness in balance. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a soft core of complex yellow stonefruit flavours alongside nutty lees and creamy barrel-ferment notes. The mouthfeel is rich, densely packed and unctuous, but is balanced by crisp, lacy acidity and a very fine drying texture. The wine flows gently and carries through to a very long, lingering finish with stonefruits, and toasty and creamy nuances. This is a soft, near unctuous, creamy barrel-influenced Arinto. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. A single vineyard wine, 100% Arinto from old vines from Bucelas, barrel-fermented to 12.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months on lees in 300 L French oak. 18.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $34.99
