Dark-hearted ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues, lighter on rim. The nose is light with fresh red berry fruit and red floral aromas, along with savoury dried herb and subtle jam and confectionary whole berry fermentation nuances, all harmoniously integrated and presented cleanly. Medium-bodied, fresh and up-front, juicy flavours of raspberry fruit, fresh herbs, lifted floral and confectionary elements are underlined by a light, dry-textured tannin line. The acidity is brisk and provides a refreshing mouthfeel. The flavours recede, leaving a light, dry finish with delicate fruit nuances. This is a light, refreshingly juicy, up-front Pinot Noir. Match with antipasto and tapas over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys, fermented in Marlborough to 13.5% alc., the wine on skins 7-10 days, then transported to Hawke’s Bay for MLF and 12 months maturation in new and seasoned French oak, then bottled in the Katikati winery. 16.0+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $16.99
