Falconhead Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Oct-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with a pink blush, lighter on the rim. This has a fresh and moderately deep nose of savoury yellow stonefruits and quince entwined with waxy, nutty, lanolin-like nuances, along with lifted yellow florals and subtle herb nuances. Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, light, gently sweet and luscious flavours of yellow stonefruits and quince show with honeysuckle notes. This has a soft core with light, phenolic textures contributing to the linearity, and light lacy acidity providing energy. The wine carries to a light, dry finish with lanolin and nutty notes. This is a light-bodied, off-dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit, quince and waxy flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 2 years. Fruit 75% from the ‘Kinross’ Crownthorpe vineyard and 25% ‘Riverview’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 6.7 g/L RS. 15.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $12.99
