Fairhall Downs ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Feb-2012
Hand-picked fruit indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins, then aged 11 months in French barriques. Even ruby-red with garnet hues to the colour, light on rim. This has a softly full nose, lifted with aromas of strawberries and red florals and subtle savoury, secondary complexities of dried herbs along with spicy oak notes. Medium-full bodied, lifted red fruits and spice elements are presented with lusciousness, the flavours forming a good concentrated core, gently unfolding and filling the palate. Fine tannin extraction and bright acidity balance the fruit sweetness and provide supple textures and linear drive. This is a lively and lifted, lush Pinot Noir with refined tannin grip, just beginning to develop interest. Match with Asian poultry and pork dishes over the next 5-6+ years. 17.5+/20 Feb 2012 RRP $35.95
