Fairhall Downs ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Feb-2012
Bright starw-yellow colour with slight lemon-gold hues, pale on rim. This is tight and fine in aromatics, with stonefruit, oak spice and flint elements intermingling. Dry, with a rich, fulsome texture and good weight, this has lush flavours of yellow stonefruits complexed with mealy elements, nuts and oak spices. The palate has depth and real presence. The acidity is restrained, but this has good liveliness and balance, and the finish is sustained, the flavours unfolding more nuances with time in the glass. This is a rich Pinot Gris with an interesting amalgam of stonefruit and oak notes that will match Middle Eastern and Mediterranean inspired fare over the next 3-4 years. ‘Fairhall Downs' vineyard fruit hand-picked and WBP, fermented, a small portion in seasoned oak, to 14.0% alc. and 3.7 g/L rs. 17.5+/20 Feb 2012 RRP $25.95
