Fairhall Downs ‘Family Estate’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Nov-2018
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and elegant in expression with good depth and moderately concentrated aromas of pungent passionfruit entwined with fresh and dark herbs, unfolding some thirst-quenching chalky mineral notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has softly rich and layered flavours of pungent passionfruit entwined with tropical fruit, savoury stonefruits, fresh and dark herbs and mineral nuances. The fruit forms a rounded core and flows smoothly, with soft, lacy acidity providing cut and balance. The wine carries to a gentle, pungent finish. This is a softly rounded, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a smooth-flowing palate and light acid freshness. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Estate fruit including clones 316 and 317 from the Brancott Valley fermented in stainless-steel with 4% from hand-harvested fruit, fermented in seasoned French oak and a 1000 L fuder to 13.5% alc. and 3.36 g/L RS. 18.0-/20 Nov 2018 RRP $23.99
