Eureka Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 12-Nov-2013
Hand-picked clone 667 and 114 Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘Ormond Estate Nursery’ vineyard, destemmed, 10% freeze-dried, and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak, and seasoned American oak barrels. Light ruby-red colour with some depth and pale purple-garnet hues on rim. The bouquet of aromatic and savoury red cherry fruit grows in depth and concentration to reveal subtle herb and mineral nuances intermixed with creamy oak with a little resinous interest. Medium-bodied, bright cherry and raspberry fruit flavours show with good depth and concentration. Bright, brisk acidity enlivens the fruit sweetness and provides plenty of racy tension to underline the palate. The tannins are supple, light and fine-grained, and the acid along with the alcohol drives the palate to a long and substantial finish with spice and liquorice notes. This is a lively Pinot Noir with well-concentrated kirsch-like fruit flavours. Serve with Asian duck and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $30.00
