Eureka Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 12-Nov-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with light green hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet has an intense core of white stonefruit and flinty, nutty notes, expressed with a steely freshness. Dry to off-dry in taste, a soft, full and layered amalgam of stonefruits, flint and minerals unfolds, revealing tropical fruit nuances and a suggestion of honeysuckle which add richness to the mouthfeel. The palate shows good fruit weight and linearity, enhanced by fresh, underlying acidity, and the flavours flow with good energy to a concentrated, dry finish with mineral and reductive interest. This is a dryish Pinot Gris with some complex detail and good weight. Serve with Mediterranean fare, and with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4+ years. Three rows and three different clones of Pinot Gris from the ‘Ormond Estate Nursery’ vineyard, the fruit WBP and fully barrel-fermented on solids in American oak and acacia wood to 14.5% alc. and 7.5 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $25.00
