Eureka ‘Late Harvest’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 12-Nov-2013
Bright, deep, golden-yellow with orange hues, lighter on edge. This has a very full and voluminous nose with concentrated aromas of orange marmalade, honey, nuts and crystallised citrus fruits, lifted and freshened with some volatile cut. Some nuances of toffee and caramel emerge in the glass. Very sweet and decadent, the mouthfeel is soft, unctuous and broad with mouthfilling flavours of orange marmalade, citrus fruits, honey ans caramel. The acidity is low, contributing to the softness and seamless, creamy flow across the palate. The sweetness, richness and breadth are near-blowsy, and carry through to an exotic and fully opulent finish. This is a very rich, soft and unctuous botrytised dessert wine with masses of orange marmalade and honied flavours. Match with steamed puddings and caramel desserts over the next 4-5 years. Botrytised Pinot Gris from the ‘Foundry’ vineyard picked past leaf fall at 55° Brix, fully barrel-fermented in new and seasoned French and American oak to 10.0% alc. and 220 g/L RS. (375 ml) 18.0/20 Nov 2013 RRP $25.00
