70% Wairau Valley fruit, predominantly Southern Clays and the remainder Awatere, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS., the wine aged on lees. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light lemon hues. The nose is fresh and full with up-front aromas of gooseberries, herbs, nettles and lantana, along with pea and bean nuances. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, fresh, lively and vibrantly juicy fruit flavours of gooseberries, peas, lantana and herbs feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is balanced with fresh acid laciness lending a slippery flow, and the wine follows a very fine line with a subtle textural thread that carries through to a dry, lingering finish with herbs and gooseberry notes. This is a fresh, up-front Sauvignon Blanc with good fruit richness and a dry balanced finish. Serve with salads, vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. 17.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $19.95
