Esk Valley Marlborough Dry Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Jan-2014
Fruit from old vines from the ‘Waldron’ vineyard in the Wairau Valley, hand-picked and WBP, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 7.1 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. Bright, even, very pale straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on edge. This has a very tightly bound, penetrating bouquet with great fruit depth of limes and lemons, revealing subtle layers of toasty development complexities and mouthwatering wet stone minerality. Dryish to taste, this is very elegant in proportion with tightly concentrated and refined flavours of limes, honey and toast beautifully integrated and harmoniously expressed. The mouthfeel, textures and structure show real finesse, allied to linearity, and carry the flavours with energy and tension to a very long and sustained finish with gentle toast and honied notes. This is a refined dry Riesling with beautiful harmony and complex citrus, honey and toasty flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 5+ years. 18.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $20.00
