Escarpment Martinborough Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Feb-2011
This is classic Chardonnay by Larry McKenna, full, rounded and complex, in the Meursault style. Bright, light golden straw-yellow in colour, this has a full, dense and rich nose with nutty, white stonefruit aromas alongside lees and sulphide complexities. A full-bodied wine, this has a broad, solid and densely weighted palate, the nutty, lees amalgam enriched with more than a suggestion of sweetness from the ripe fruit. The acidity is soft and is in harmony with the total expression. The finish is long and flavoursome. 95 clone fruit from the ‘Te Muna Road' vineyard, fully wild yeast fermented in barrel to 14.1% alc., undergoing partial malo conversion and given lees stirring. Drink with firm fleshed seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. 18.0+/20 Feb 2011 RRP $33.00
