Escarpment ‘Kupe’ Martinborough Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Feb-2011
All clone 95 from the ‘McCreanor' vineyard fully barrel fermented with high solids to 14.1% alc. and matured 12 months on lees in 30% new oak. 100% MLF. This has a brilliant, light golden-straw colour, with pale hues of green. The bouquet is very fine and tightly bound, with excellent concentration and intensity, white stonefruits, nuts and mineral notes showing. A wine of elegance with understated power underlining the palate. Very fine textures with subtle layers of nutty, minerally flavours that are brought into focus and attention by excellent acidity. Savoury floral, stonefruit and gently spicy oak complexities are carried through the long, sustained finish. A refined white burgundy style similar to classic Puligny-Montrachet. Partner with fine seafood over the next 6-8+ years. 19.0-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $52.00
