Escarpment ‘Kiwa’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 10-Feb-2011
Clones 5, 6 and 13 from 28 y.o.vines from the ‘Cleland' vineyard, Cambridge Street, fermented with 30% whole bunch to 13.1% alc., then aged 12 months in 30% new French oak barriques. Very full, dark, dense purple-red in colour, this has a rich, voluminous, aromatic bouquet of very dark berry fruits combined with savoury spices and nuances of violetty florals that add a fresh lift. Medium-full bodied with a very dense core of red and savoury, game and herb-like fruit flavours, a floral element and excellent acidity provides vitality and a liveliness that will see it match flavoursome Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 7-10 years. A wine of dimension and substance. 19.0+/20 Feb 2011 RRP $65.00
